Many of Remington’s bronze sculptures continued to be produced after his death until 1919 when his widow stipulated that all models used for casting “authorized” Remington bronzes were to be destroyed which was accomplished by the Roman Bronze Works foundry in the Spring of 1919. It was in the 1970s that work to produce Frederic Remington reproductions began when federal artist protection from duplication of his works expired, enabling the recasting and reproduction of Remington bronzes in the public domain, either by taking a rubber mold of an authorized cast, or for another artist to recreate a close representation.
