Think about swans and the first thing that comes to mind is “grace” and “beauty”. There are 6-7 species of swans in the world today and they include such species as the Tundra Swan, Black Swan and the Whooper Swan. These birds share a close relationship with ducks and geese, and can often be seen swimming in lakes. Swans belong to the waterfowl family called Anatidae and are among the largest of the flying birds. The largest species which include the Mute Swan, Trumpeter Swan and the Tundra Swan can reach a length of about 59 inches and a weight of about 33 lbs. These birds are known to live for about 20-30 years. For instance, the Trumpeter Swans of North America live for about 24 years while in the wild.
