Socrates was known to be one of the greatest Greek philosophers of all time and the founder of the Western philosophy. He was born in Athens, Greece in 470 BC. Unfortunately, the way we know him was through posthumous accounts written by his students Plato and Xenophon as he did not author any of his philosophy down for his students to read. Our bronze Socrates sculpture is set on a solid marble base and celebrates this man who has given much to Western philosophical thought. Cast in bronze using the ancient lost wax process, this finely crafted bronze sculpture is a beautiful tabletop sculpture for the den or office.
