Ceres is the Roman Goddess of Agriculture, grain crops and fertility, and is often associated with wheat. Her Greek counterpart is the Greek Goddess Demeter. Ceres is often depicted holding a sheaf of wheat or wearing a crown of wheat as described by cultural and mythological resources. Her name is the origin for the word “cereal”.
