Pelicans are known for the characteristic pouch under their beak which they use to fish. It is said that pelicans normally fish in cooperative groups. They will first form a line on the water and then drive the fishes into shallow waters as they use their wings to beat the surface of the water. The frightened fishes will then move into the shallow waters where they become food for the pelicans.
