The rooster for instance exists on the Chinese zodiac calendar and is a symbol of honesty as well as physical and moral fortitude. There is also a belief that if one hears the rooster's voice in a dream, then it is a sign of a wake up call suggesting that one needs to pay attention to some circumstance in their lives.
