Based on the famous marble sculpture by Antonio Canova, this 26” high bronze replica of the Goddess Venus looking into the eyes of the Roman God of War Mars, is a timeless bronze sculpture to have for the home. Cast in bronze by master sculptors and artisans from Europe, this timeless piece was based on the ‘Mars and Venus’ sculpture that was carved from a single marble block and commissioned by the Prince Regent for Carlton House in 1815 during Antonio Canova's visit to London to see the Elgin Marbles. It represents an allegory of War and Peace after England’s victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
Cast in bronze using the ancient lost wax process, our European sculpture of Goddess Venus and the Roman God of War Ares comes with a lovely patina finish and is set on a solid marble base.
