Based on the 1895 famous painting of William-Adolphe Bouguereau, this beautiful bronze sculpture of the Roman God of love, Cupid, abducting his wife, Psyche, is a museum quality statue designed for the tabletop. According to classical mythology, it is said that the beautiful young Psyche incurs the envy of the Goddess of Beauty, Aphrodite and to eliminate competition to her, Aphrodite sends her son Cupid (Roman God of Love), to make Psyche fall for a hideous creature. However, Cupid falls for Psyche instead.
Our Cupid and Psyche bronze statue which details French sculptor Henri Godet’s original small sculpture of The Abduction of Psyche, comes beautifully detailed and is cast in European bronze using the ancient lost wax process. Cast from bronze, it bears glory to the myth and highlights the beauty of Psyche as she is held close to Cupid.
Bronze sculpture. Made in Europe.
