A true work of bronze cowboy art, our Bronze Outlaw Sculpture by Frederic Remington captures that explosive moment when the “great spirit” of the horse muscles up the tenacity of the cowboy as he rides it in mid-air with all four hooves off the ground. In those days, crafting such a gravity-defying pose of the horse was an impossibility for a single figure sculpture. However, the sculptors of Frederic Remington’s time were not to be dissuaded and overcame the obstacles posed by the gravity-defying stunt of his horse with a creation that successfully worked on suspended animation. In this sculpture based on the original sculpture by Frederic Remington, the hindquarters of the bucking horse are nearly vertical while the cowboy, its rider, not to be dissuaded, successfully balances himself in the saddle with a graceful arch of his back. The sculpture named Outlaw is simply awe inspiring because it captures a unique dimensional pose of the horse never done before with both man and horse perched on a single hoof while the entire form appears to float on the base.
Standing at a height of some 22”, our bronze Outlaw sculpture, comes beautifully detailed with crisp and vivid details, and is a profoundly beautiful Remington sculpture to add to the office or den. This cowboy on horse statue comes in an attractive patina finish and is cast in quality bronze using the ancient lost wax process, a process that Remington’s sculptor attempted to resolve to capture the unusual and powerful stances of cowboy on horse.
