The hippopotamus is known to be native to the sub-Saharan Africa and is said to be a semi-aquatic mammal. It feeds mainly on grass and other forms of plant material but does not consume aquatic plants. The hippo as it is commonly known by, can be very aggressive and territorial. Although it is semi-aquatic, hippos are known to be poor swimmers and will not float in water.
