A handsome statue hand carved from premium white marble, the Boy with Thorn statue, also known as Spinario or Fedele, is a Greco-Roman Hellenistic sculpture of a boy withdrawing a thorn from the sole of his foot, now located in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome only it is cast in bronze. There is a Roman marble version of this subject from the Medici collections in a corridor of the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.
The Boy with Thorn sculpture embodies that of the nude youth about to pull a thorn from his foot as quickly and painlessly as he can, and also captures the mindset of the sculptor as he demonstrates a supremely beautiful representation of the human body in complex action.
